Think you're the king or queen of the backyard game? Grab a partner and prove it in our adult bags league. Teams of two will square off in this round robin league. Each team will compete in one or two -three game matches per night. The league will last seven weeks followed by a single elimination tournament.Fee includes one hot dog and one drink per player each night.

The Olympic sport of swordplay. You always thought fencing scenes in movies were exciting, now you can try it too! Fencing is an excellent sport for children and adults. It combines coordination of relaxed and explosive moves, and critical thinking between attack and defensive strategies. Your local fencing location is your next step and all equipment is provided. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children. Skill level of fencers will be managed by coach.
Be part of a youth lacrosse league exclusively for girls. The emphasis of this program is to develop the girl within the sport of lacrosse. The goals of the program are to understand the rules of larosse, active teamwork, sportsmanship, and foster personal development in a respectful environment led by positive coaching. IGLA has adopted the US Lacrosse "Players First" Athlete Development Model which means smaller fields and a smaller number of players. Kids are more engaged, get more touches of the ball, and further develop their skills. Leagues: IGLA offers two levels of league play: Pink and Purple. Both are recreational, community lacrosse. Pink teams practice once a week. Purple teams practice twice a week and may travel more for games. If considering Purple, players must first attend an assessment (visit iglax.org for dates and locations) where participants are assessed on stick stills and game play. Current Purple players do not need to attend an assessment and can register directly for the league. Registration: Registration for all programs is a two-step process: Pay and register through the Downers Grove Park District and register at iglax.org. All registrations at www.iglax.org are due 3/30/18; a late fee will be assessed on any registrations received at www.iglax.org after 3/30/18. Equipment needed: A stick, hard ball, goggles and mouth guard requiredLeague Uniform: IGLA pinny is required and may be purchased during registration at www.iglax.org.

This adult soccer program is a great way to meet new people. Open to all skill levels, this program provides an excellent combination of fun and exercise. Class consists of ten minutes of warm-ups followed by pickup style games ranging from small side to full field matches.
Our men’s basketball league is for players who want to participate in a traditional open-paced league. Each team plays at least 10 games on Monday or Tuesday nights. A playoff follows the regular season. League play is governed by I.H.S.A. rules and regulations with local exceptions adopted. JNTo be considered a resident team, 60% of team members must pay taxes to the Park District or be employed in Downers Grove. Players must submit copies of their driver’s license or employment pay stub of a company within Park District boundaries. At the time of registration, a $100 deposit is due, as well as a preliminary team roster, including names and addresses of all team members.Teams may register at the Recreation Center on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots are filled. Roster forms are available online at dgparks.org, at the Recreation Center, or the Lincoln Center.
An alternative to tackle football, this seven-week class meets once a week for fun, instructional practices and games.
Learn the fundamentals of all different sports in a fun and safe environment. Basic drills are taught along with game play situations. Teamwork, sportsmanship and positive experience are emphasized.
Develop basic baseball skills such as hitting, fielding, throwing, catching and running the bases. Fun drills and games are played each week. Please bring your own glove.
